Fallend
A long way down.
A skydiver drops through a vertical air stream that keeps changing around them. Space, then weather, then a city, then rock, then worse. Slide a finger left or right to swing around the inside of the stream, past the things stuck to its walls. It starts slow. It doesn’t stay slow.
What you're doing up there
One finger, all the way round
Slide left and you swing left. Slide right and you swing right. Or point to where you want to be. That’s the whole control, and it works the same no matter where you are on the circle. The diver has some weight, so a hard turn takes a moment to start and a moment to stop.
Seven layers, in order
Space, then the aurora, then weather, then a city, then a cavern, then magma, then something under all of it. Each level is one of these from top to bottom, so you always know roughly how far you’ve gone without reading a number.
Falling is the easy part
You speed up as you drop, and the air stream fills up around you. A parachute buys you eight slow seconds and doubles your score. Goggles thin the traffic. There’s always a gap, and the game won’t drop you into something you can’t get out of.
Two ways to play it
Descent runs until you hit three things, with each level deeper and busier than the last. Freefall gives you ninety seconds and counts what you pick up. Neither mode asks for more than a couple of minutes.
A field guide to the whole stream
Every object has an entry with a picture and what it does to you. Two of them are worth reading first. The drone leans toward wherever you are, so the gap you picked closes on its own, and the hoarding is almost invisible edge-on and a wall the moment it turns.
The end of a run shows its working
You get what the score was made of rather than only what it came to. The menu keeps a personal best for each mode, so there is always a number to beat and it is yours rather than a stranger’s.
